The hand drawn logo celebrates the ethos of Lopez Island and the great care with which Brian and Jennell run their independent, family-owned grocery. The leaf canopy can be separated from the logotype to ground and frame the artwork in compositions. The identity system includes a collection of sumi illustrations that capture vignettes of life on the island.

A 1.3-acre regenerative farm launched in 2017 by Kelly Okumura and Shawn Miller that specializes in the cultivation of unique and hard-to-find Asian vegetables and herbs grown alongside pastured chickens and pigs. The farm’s name and visual branding were playfully inspired by the soil series native to the area: Tukwila Muck. Weathered typography, grainy paper textures and antique etchings rendered in a palette of browns and tans captures the earthiness, homegrown character and humor of Tuk Muk Farm and its owners.

31ST ANNUAL GALA
Design for the 2014 Gala included the challenge of interpreting and expanding on the university’s recent rebrand. Multiple concepts were presented, and the selected design featured a palette of vivid colors, antiqued textures and bold geometric patterns. Translucency and color overlay create a sense of interactivity in the compositions and was playfully reproduced with stage lighting at the event. 

30TH ANNIVERSARY GALA
A marine-inspired aesthetic of colors and shapes captured the anniversary theme of “the pearl.” Each piece in the system features a unique illustration—creating an abstracted, organic, underwater world. Artwork was paired with classical typography and restrained composition to create an elegant brand for the event.

A system of four icons embodies Jane’s personal philosophy called “the web of life”—the connection between animals, people and the environment. While used in a more reserved manner on the Institute’s business system, the icons can be used independently in vibrant colors to create an illustrative sensibility and represent specific areas of the Institute’s programming.

Launched in 2009, Blackboard Eats features restaurant reviews and insider deals on dining and foodie products from around the country. In keeping with the name, the identity system features a blackboard which creates a brand language and visual environment for the website and print collateral. The logo employs bold typography and an interchangeable system of initials to represent BBE’s regional editions.

Owner’s Brooke and Sam Lucy are committed to growing ancient grains using farm practices that benefit the land and result in healthy, tasty food. An update to Bluebird Grain Farms brand and packaging employs rich textures and colors in original cut paper illustrations of animals native to the Methow Valley in scenes of their signature emmer farro.

Inspired by an armillary sphere with its rings and hoops representing the celestial circles, the logo is a deconstruction of the form and letter “M” that reveals the elemental shapes of the meridian and poles.

2008 HUTCH HOLIDAY GALA
The Hutch Holiday Gala is Fred Hutch’s most important annual fundraising event. The theme of “wonder” is captured through elaborate, curvilinear typography that draws you into the heart of each piece. Ethereal imagery, metallic inks and substrates and unconventional form factors bolster the theme and create an engaging and tactile experience for invitees.

SCIENCE SPECTRUM INVITATION SERIES
An event series designed to bring potential donors and scientists together, Science Spectrum is hosted several times a year in varied locations. The invitation employs a systematic design that allows artwork to be customized for each location.

Northwest Center Foundation was established to broaden the fundraising opportunities available to NWC to support their work with the developmentally disabled. A marketing suite, featuring an 8-page capabilities brochure, was created for the Foundation. The modular design features statistics, testimonial quotes and photography of the many adults and children whose lives have been improved through NWC programs.

Classical design contrasts with a contemporary color palette to create a splash equal to Danielle’s vibrant personality. The identity system features rich, photographic textures inspired by her visual sensibility and the materials used in her work.

The All Terrain Brain website is the robust companion to a collection of PSA’s that encourage kids to discover their passion and entrepreneurial spirit. In this dynamic and interactive universe, kids can meet the cast of characters, watch videos, play games and navigate the ATB Road Map—all while being introduced to real-world concepts that will help them succeed in life.

Proposed logo concepts and final artwork for AlgoSnap, an innovative technology company that utilizes mobile sensor information to create data sets that can assist researchers in improving fields like health care, transportation, urban planning and the social sciences. Designs were inspired by circuits, logic diagrams, planar shapes and graph theory.

Hosted by Providence General Foundation, the Festival of Trees is a multi-day fundraising event featuring a display of elaborately decorated Christmas trees created by community members and organizations. Silhouettes of classic ornament shapes coupled with playful typography, sparkly imagery and metallic substrates creates a metaphorical world “within” the Christmas tree.

Deena is as gifted with kids as she is with the camera, and her photography captures the spirited, playful nature of the children she works with. A whimsical identity system comprised of illustrations, textures and words complements her work.

“Best of the Best” is the award-winning annual directory of hotels and resorts produced by Virtuoso, a leader in the luxury travel industry. The challenge lay in creating a systematic and cohesive design that could be implemented by Virtuoso’s internal production team. A palette of bold jewel tones, decorative tiles, illustrative maps and alluring photography showcases the exotic destinations. 

“A Signature Celebration” was the theme of PNB’s 2008 First Look season preview event. Dynamic sepia-toned photography was paired with gestural brushwork and a boho-inspired color palette to create a striking visual brand for the event.

Based on a nautilus shell, the logo’s flowing, curvilinear form was created with one continuous line. When used in multiples, the logo creates dynamic patterns and compositions.
